Vaishnavas do not accept anything until it has first been offered to the Deity. Before foodstuffs are offered to the Lord, they are referred to as bhoga (enjoyment). Once they have been offered with heartfelt prayer to the Lord, then they are understood to have been tasted by Him and are then known as prasadam or "mercy."
