Only the Fools and the Wise are Happy (video)
HH Chandrasekhar Swami: It may seem strange to say only the total fool and the perfected sage are happy. This is the point of this verse. Those who have recognized the real nature of this world and walked the path of personal regulation can experience the reality of eternal bliss which is the real nature of the soul.
Surprisingly, those who are totally ignorant and live from moment to moment also imagine they are happy, because they do not remember, understand or dwell on their constant misery. Everybody else, like you and me, we feel the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
We are not the body, but because we identify with it, via the false ego, we suffer the effects of the body. The body is designed to experience sufferings and discomforts of many types. The soul is blissful naturally, unlike the body. Because our focus is the body and not the soul, we experience the body and not the soul. This is changed through the process of Bhakti or Devotion. Devotion has two phases: Sadhana Bhakti (Regulation) and Raga Bhakti (Spontaneous Love). Those in Raga Bhakti do not experience the body but rather the soul.
Happiness, Love and Freedom are the 3 most misunderstood words in the English Language. This misunderstanding is caused by Spiritual ignorance.
No matter what path you take through life, you will struggle intensely, but if you adopt the path of Bhakti, your struggles and difficulty will be part of the road to a permanent solution. Then we will leave this material world behind.
Even sometimes great personalities are placed into travail, and under such circumstances they never forget the Supreme Lord. They are truly not living in this world though walking in it with us.
