TWO COOKS

Two Cooks

Frank is 84 years of age, a reader and a man of the old school values. While embracing Buddhist values it was easy enough for him to accept his son, Ken Bowie, becoming Krishna conscious. Today Ken made it official by taking diksha, or initiation. A professional chef, he received the Sanskrit name Kirtan Lila. He and his father are both very happy.

His friend Kingkar, originally from Bangladesh, is also a professional chef. Krishna consciousness was already familiar to him, having been raised in that culture. Along with many friends from the immigrant community, he attended the performance at the Laksmi Narayan Mandir, joined by many others and lots of children.

Kingkar also received diksha, receiving the name Kunjabihari, referring to Krishna who enjoys sporting in the groves of Vrndavana. He enjoys studying the books and regularly attends bi-weekly Bhagavad-gita Zoom classes.

The two chefs prepared excellent pasta prasadam for everyone who attended. The dance, kirtan, and the snana (bathing) ceremony of Lord Jagannatha were well appreciated. The drama was enjoyed, although some jokes were difficult for those whose first language was not English.

In any event, the sacred name of Krishna was heard throughout the presentation, and the audience was impressed by the youthful enthusiasm.
