Cafe Chat: Vegan cafe opens at Wellington campus.
A new vegan cafe has opened at Victoria University’s Kelburn campus. Krishna Food, is serving up fresh, wholesome meals that are available to students and the general public of Wellington.

Offerings include kumara fries, salads, samosas, lasagne, and the cafe’s famous Krishna Plate (consisting of rice, curry, salad, dressing, and dessert). There’s also an array of tempting sweet treats – all vegan as well, of course.

“The mango cheesecake and ‘sausage’ roll have been very popular since our opening, but our classic Krishna Plate will always be a winner,” says manager Madhava Mohini.

“It’s such a wholesome combination of good food that fills your belly – and it’s only $6!”

Krishna Food’s philosophy is all about being aware about what goes into its food, not just in terms of the ingredients but also the consciousness with which the food is cooked. Even the chefs are trained yogis, combining meditation with their food preparation.

“Our goal is to offer Wellington the tastiest, most consciously cooked plant-based food with happy, friendly customer service.

"We want our customers to feel rejuvenated and uplifted by the whole atmosphere of Krishna Food and to feel like this is their space,” Mohini says.

Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.
