Behind the scenes of Mega Kitchen | Kartik Yatra 2024 | ISKCON Chowpatty - YouTubeIn this video, Gauranga Prabhu takes viewers behind the scenes of ISKCON Chowpatty's Mega Kitchen set up for the Kartik Yatra 2024 at Sridham Mayapur. The setup includes cranes, machinery, and extensive volunteer support, enabling the preparation of meals for over 10,000 people daily. He explains the roles of advanced equipment, such as coconut graters, vegetable cutters, pulverizers for grinding, and potato peeling machines, each designed for high-capacity tasks to assist the 600 full-time and 200 part-time volunteers. The construction of a dedicated pot wash area is nearing completion with the help of the TOVP team. Additionally, Gauranga Prabhu shows the storage facility (godown) for groceries and spices, highlighting organized processes for daily ingredient preparation based on pre-planned recipes. This coordination ensures efficiency, with immediate adjustments possible if headcounts change. A new feature this year is a dedicated seating area for senior devotees (Vaishnavas) over 60, those with medical needs, and pregnant women. Designed with tables and chairs, this area, accommodating up to 400 at a time, allows volunteers to serve them directly. Approximately 1,000 devotees have registered in this special category, emphasizing ISKCON’s commitment to caring for elderly and vulnerable devotees. Hare Krishna.
