Madhavananda Dasanudas ACBSP 1970 : In 1972, Srila Prabhupada took us all by
train from Calcutta to Hyderabad.
He was pleased that four of his sannyasis had caused a stir in South India by
preaching cooperatively and boldly.
The preaching had reached the newspaper, and the article was sent to Srila
Prabhupada in Calcutta.
Excitedly, his secretary Shyamasundara announced that he had decided we should
all leave for Hyderabad immediately.
Upon reaching the city, after stops in Vishakapatnam and Madras, the vaishnava
Badruka Family brought before Srila Prabhupada a 5 year old boy, who stood and
proceeded to recite the entire Sanskrit Bhagavad Gita from memory
word-for-word.
Srila Prabhupada did not interrupt the boy at all, but his eyes went wide and
head tilted slightly as he looked at us and without speaking said;
“Just see!”.
Often he said by learning and reciting the Sanskrit verses from Bhagavat
Shastra, the verses and realizations they may engender carries into the next
life.
He also often encouraged disciples to challenge our sampradaya’s ontology by
taking the side of opposing viewpoints.
One day, while a disciple was successfully arguing strongly for the soundness
of Darwinism, everyone laughed as Srila Prabhupada ended the argument by
saying;
“Your ancestors may have come from apes, but mine came from poets.”
In the above magazine article, even the publishers and readers may not believe
in a next life, but the point is made that
“the brains of the pandits were dramatically larger than those of controls,..”
All Glories To Srila Prabhupada, who reaffirmed for us, and greatly expanded
our understanding of, The Non-Dual Truth, long before it became provable, or
fashionable. http://www.vedabase.com/en/sb/1/1/1
