The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Vamanadeva, said: “Because of Bali Maharaja’s great tolerance, I have given him a place unobtainable even by the demigods. He will become king of the heavenly planets during the period of the Savarni manvantara period. Until Bali Maharaja achieves the position of king of heaven, he shall live on the planet Sutala, which was made by Visvakarma according to My order. Because it is especially protected by Me, it is free from mental and bodily miseries, fatigue, dizziness, defeat, and all other disturbances. O Bali Maharaja, now go to the planet Sutala, which is desired even by the demigods. Live there peacefully, surrounded by your friends and relatives. All good fortune unto you! There aren’t even the predominating deities of other planets, what to speak of ordinary people, will be able to conquer you. And as far as the demons are concerned, if they transgress your rule, My disc will kill them. O great hero, I shall always be with you and give you protection in all respects, along with your associates and paraphernalia. Moreover, you will always be able to see Me there. Because there you will see My supreme prowess, your materialistic ideas and anxieties that have arisen from your association with the demons and Danavas will immediately be vanquished.”

Srila Jiva Goswami:
Appearing as the nephew of Sri Rupa and Sanatana Gosvamis, Sri Jiva Gosvami displayed all the charming features of a mahapurusa (divine person). He had lotus eyes, a high nose and forehead, a broad chest, long arms, and a radiant golden body. In his boyhood, he made a Deity of Krsna-Balarama. Expressing his pure devotion, he would often cry while worshiping Them. Jiva was so much attached to Krishna-Balarama that at bedtime he would embrace his Deities and fall asleep. His parents thought he was only playing. But the villagers rejoiced to see Jiva’s love for Krishna-Balarama. A superexcellent Sanskrit scholar, Sri Jiva Gosvami would compose Sanskrit verses in his mind and write them down without changing anything. “Write them down” means he would use a metal stylus to permanently etch them in palm leaves. This inscription method left no room for erasing, editing, rewriting, or running a spellcheck. Yet, each verse was a priceless gem of perfect meter, rhythm, poetry, and meaning. He wrote an astounding half a million Sanskrit verses (about 25 books). His books prove that Sri Caitanya’s philosophy gives the essence of Vedic wisdom and the perfection of religion. Gopala Campu, the Sat Sandarbhas, and the Hari-namamrta-vyakarana are three of his most famous works. The Sandarbhas firmly establish the transcendental truths of Srimad-Bhagavatam. They also confirm that Lord Sri Krsna is the Supreme Absolute Truth (svayam bhagavan), the cause of everything, and the source of all avataras. Anyone who faithfully reads these books will become a devotee of Krsna. At the request of Acaryarani Jahnava Devi Thakurani, Sri Jiva Gosvami had Srinivasa Acarya, Narottama Dasa Thakura, and Syamananda Prabhu took the Gosvamis’ writings from Vrndavana to Bengal. They translated them into Bengali and distributed them throughout Bengal and Orissa. They also preached extensively and initiated hundreds of disciples. In 1542 Sri Jiva Gosvami established the worship Sri-Sri Radha-Damodara at Seva Kunja, Vrindavana. His samadhi stands in the Temple compound. Sri Jiva Gosvami is Vilasa-manjari in Radha-Damodara’s eternal Vrndavana-lila.
